3 signs your website is losing you bookings

A booking doesn't disappear at the payment page. It disappears three steps earlier — on a slow gallery, a rates page that needs pinch-zooming, or an enquiry form that asks for twelve fields before showing availability. The owner never sees it happen; the guest just books somewhere else.

The first sign is mobile load time above three seconds. Most villa traffic in Bali arrives from Instagram or WhatsApp on a phone, often on hotel wifi. If your hero image alone weighs four megabytes, the guest is gone before your brand appears. Test it: open your site on mobile data, not your office fibre.

The second sign is a booking journey with more than three steps between 'I want this' and a confirmation. Every extra form field, every redirect to a third-party engine that looks nothing like your site, drops a measurable share of guests. The fix is rarely a redesign — it's removing steps.

The third sign is invisibility for the searches that matter. Ranking for your own villa name is not SEO — guests who search your name already found you. The test is whether you appear for 'private villa Ubud' or 'family villa Canggu' in the markets you actually serve.

None of these require rebuilding from scratch. In most engagements we fix the leak first, measure the change, and only then talk about a bigger build — because a fast site that converts pays for the redesign that follows.
